Dear Breast Cancer Survivor,
Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were great. When someone is diagnosed
with breast cancer, sometimes the best resources, or comfort comes from
someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer before. Komen Kentucky
has multiple opportunities for survivors to share their story, help other
survivors, or get involved to help breast cancer survivors.
Here are two specific ways that you can share your breast cancer story and
help other people who have been affected by breast cancer:
1) Have your story featured with Komen Kentucky to be shared on social media
and our newsletter. If you are interested in telling your story, please email abuchanan@komenkentucky.org
2) Volunteering with Friend for Life Cancer Support Network, specifically if
you are located in Eastern Kentucky. See Information below.
Friend for Life’s Mission:
To help persons recently diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones navigate
the path through diagnosis, treatment and recovery by pairing them with a
trained survivor of a similar experience so they can face cancer with someone
who’s been there.
Our Goal: To recruit
and train 25 breast cancer survivors residing in Eastern Kentucky who are
willing to provide emotional support to other women diagnosed with breast
cancer.
Why: To improve
support resources for women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in Eastern
Kentucky.
