An estimated 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. In 2018, approximately 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women, and 2,550 cases will be diagnosed in men in the U.S., according to the American Cancer Society.

Did you know that the average cost of a wig for a person to wear after their hair has fallen out, due to cancer treatment is $50? Did you know that the average cost of a screening mammogram in Kentucky costs $100?

We are so thankful and excited that you have registered for the Lexington Race for the Cure, but how can you do more? How can you help someone with breast cancer? How can you help fund LOCAL programs that provide screenings, diagnostics, treatment support, education and survivorship programs?

The answer is by joining our fight and to start fundraising for the Lexington Race for the Cure!

Now fundraising is even easier than before! Check out these easy, fun and rewarding ways to help our community!

• Create a Facebook Fundraiser and link it to your participant fundraising page!
• Host a Kendra Scott give back party- pick a night at the Kendra Scott retail store in the Summit shopping center, enjoy food and drink while shopping and a percentage of the night’s proceeds go back to your team! Contact Samantha Edler for more details! samantha.elder@kendrascott.com 
• Host a Draper James give back party- pick a night at the Draper James retail store in the Summit shopping center, enjoy food and drink while shopping and a percentage of the night’s proceeds go back to your team! Contact lexington@draperjames.com for more details!
• Get members of your work/company to donate/join your team. Possibly have a dress down day or bake sale in the office.

• Top Survivor Fundraiser
• Top Team Fundraisers in the following categories (Friends and Family, Company/Corporate, Healthcare, School/University, Religious/ Non-profit)
• Fundraisers who raise $500 or more

Don't forget if you make a self-donation of $25 or more. You will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a FREE American Airlines ticket.

Listed below is a list of third party events that will be taking place this month:

• October 4^th Fayette Mall Macy’s Wacoal Fit for the Cure: For every woman who gets a bra fitting Wacoal will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen. Wacoal will also donate an additional $2 for every Wacoal bra purchased.
  
• October 5^th:Draper James Give Back Night! The Summit: 7-9p.m 15% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G Komen
• October 5th:Kendra Scott Give Back Night The Summit: 6-8p.m 15% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G Komen
• October 5th:Edley’s BBQ  Pink Out for the Cure The Summit: 6-9p.m 15% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G Komen; they will also have raffles and prizes for this ladies night
• October 6^th:Fayette Mall Pink Spotlight: 1-4pm The Fayette mall will be hosting a spotlight social dedicated to bringing awareness to breast cancer: put on your pink and enjoy the exclusive fashion tips, food and so much more.
• October 19^th: Fayette Mall Dillard’s Wacoal Fit for the Cure!:  For every woman who gets a bra fitting Wacoal will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen. Wacoal will also donate an additional $2 for every Wacoal bra purchased.
• October 20^th:Draper James Give Back Night The Summit: 6-9p.m. 15% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G Komen
• October 20th:Kendra Scott Give Back Night The Summit:6-9p.m 15% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G Komen
• October 25^th:Lexington Green Give back night The Summit: Palmer’s restaurant will be giving back a percentage of proceeds to Susan G. Komen during Race packet pick up.
