A world without breast cancer

The Louisville Race for the Cure is almost here,

There are only 2 weeks until the 23rd Annual Louisville Race for the Cure - thank you for registering and supporting Komen Kentucky. I am excited to report that nearly 80% of the teams participating have fundraised this year! Thank you to all the team captains and team members who understand that their financial support of Komen means more support to those with breast cancer! Every little bit helps in our fight against this disease. Let's see if we can get 100% of the teams with at least one donation - no matter how small!

If you're new to this email update, this message has important information about:

- how the money you raise is used in the fight against breast cancer
- breast cancer statistics and/or Komen facts
- weekly contests (for individuals and teams) and the winners from the previous week
- fundraising tips (and what to do with cash and checks)
important news (like Race-day schedules, packet pickup, parking maps, etc.)
- top fundraisers for the week
-
 thank you to our sponsors

If you need help with anything Race-related, please do not hesitate to contact me: 502.905.0378.

Thanks for all you do for Komen,
Lynn Huffman

Where Your Money Goes

Komen Kentucky works hard to be good stewards of your donations. Our administrative overhead is minimal so you can be assured that your donations are going where they are meant to be - helping to meet Komen's BOLD GOAL of reducing breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% by 2026. We will meet this goal by:

  • Supporting cutting-edge research on the most aggressive forms of breast cancer
  • Improving access to quality, timely cancer care for the underserved

Thank you for making this possible!

Fast Facts

  • There are eight signs of breast cancer.  Most people only know about a lump.  Do you know the other seven?
  • 90-95% of the people getting breast cancer do NOT have a family history of the disease.
  • While getting older increases the risk of getting breast cancer, breast cancer can affect women (and men) at any age - even in their 20s and 30s. Know what is "normal" for you and if you see or feel anything that does not seem right, get it checked out EARLY!
